As I am uploading this to the website, it is Easter Sunday. I hope it is a lovely day wherever you are.
If you are new to Journey to Wellness, welcome. Every month [or when the spirit moves me] you will receive a brief e-mail that will contain a link to the NL at my website. The current NL is always available at the website. There is no strict timetable to the newsletters. My intention is that they publish approximately monthly. One thing I can promise you is that you will not have your inbox filled with lots of missives from me.
I have been doing this monthly newsletter for so many years that sometimes I sit at the computer thinking about what to feature in a particular issue, and it seems that I have repeatedly written everything I know about a healthy self-healing lifestyle. At the same time I know that there are always new people joining the list. So for those who have been with me for years, when I write something that seems repetitive for you, I apologize. Perhaps it will speak to you again!
A healthy lifestyle means life-long learning. I am fond of saying that we never learn it all . . . it is really a process of becoming. If you are new to this style of living, you are in for lots of a-ha-has. When I was new to learning about self-healing and all it included, I was always having new and exciting discoveries.
Perhaps you don't know that I was a music teacher and taught piano and organ for about 25 years. I remember the excitement I felt as a young music student when I learned a new bit of music theory and was able to recognize that technique in compositions of the masters. Learning about self-healing held many of those kinds of a-ha-ha moments for me.
Please hear me with "inner ears." If you believe it will work - really believe at the depths of your being - IT WILL WORK FOR YOU! The reverse is also true. If you believe that it will not work for you, IT WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU!

MY GREATEST DISCOVERY about my body's ability to heal itself, is SELF-TALK. It is an amazing healing tool. Once you have experienced this amazing feat you will be astounded by its ability to heal.
I recall when I first learned to talk to my body (mirror talk) which I learned from Louise Hay, it was rather general in nature. After working with the technique myself, and helping others with it, I have learned some rather specific guidelines.
Some people "play" with this technique without much success. Why? I'm glad you ask. Mostly they do not understand how and why it works.
HOW: (1) You must be very specific. For instance if you are in pain you must speak directly to the pain. Example: "Go away pain!" (2) You must speak loudly and forcefully, with emotion. And repeat as often as necessary to create that emotion. Ultimately it is the emotion which brings about the change. If you have a foot drop, speak directly and forcefully to your foot.
I once did this with acute sciatica pain . . . what I call screaming pain from which you cannot get relief. I was in such pain I couldn't get relief by lying down, sitting, walking, etc. I finally made it into my bathroom and stood in front of the huge mirror and quite literally screamed, "Go away pain, go away!" multiple times. I was hurting so bad that tears were streaming down my face. As I repeated those words several times, I pounded my fists on the counter, and suddenly every trace of that acute pain was gone. And for many weeks it did not return.
WHY: Physics tells us that everything in the Universe vibrates at a different energetic level. When we speak aloud to the pain, or whatever else we want to change, as we add the ingredient of intense emotion, we raise our vibration level closer to that of our higher self or the Universe, and the healing happens immediately.
Remember that all spiritual perspectives teach that we are spirit (our higher self or soul), mind (our thinking ability), and body (this physical body I like to call the "house" I live in). In our example the spirit has the higher vibration level, and by very forcefully telling the pain to go away (body), we raise the vibration level to the spirit or soul level.
I am not trained in physics, but this is my understanding of how it works. The next time you have pain, tell it to go away, as described above, and you'll be amazed. It is important to note that one need not understand how this works - just do it!
I suggest you read this section over and over until it really "speaks" to you.
IT REALLY WORKS!!
You may recall reading in this newsletter about Marguerite Olmos, a long-time friend of Journey to Wellness, together with her husband, Enrique, visiting with me here in Davis, California. They were at that time investigating retiring in California. I believe it was about 5 years ago. We had a lovely visit and luncheon. Shortly thereafter Marguerite and Enrique retired and settled in California's wine country.
I am sorry to report that Enrique made his transition to his next experience on March 24. Enrique was a delightful and lovely man, and I enjoyed meeting him. This photo of Marguerite, Enrique and me was taken by a waitress at the restaurant where we had lunch. Enrique will be greatly missed by his loving wife and daughter, Gabby.
FOCUS ON MOVEMENT (Exercise): THE HEALER WITHIN
I communicate with so many of you who have been with me for some time - many for years - and yet you still don't "get it together," and accept and really believe that your body has the power to heal itself. Or perhaps you believe self-healing can be done, but for one of several reasons the concept that you have the capability to turn on that capability in your own body eludes you.
I'm here to tell you that each and every one of you can accomplish self-healing!
Recently I have been spending a lot of time studying Dr. Roger Jahnke's THE HEALER WITHIN. Early on in my own search for how to heal my body someone referred me to Dr. Jahnke's book, then newly published, and he opened the door for me to self-healing and Qi Gong. Today, twenty years since it was first published, this book remains a world-wide best seller. In the ensuing years he wrote another book, THE HEALING PROMISE OF QI, and I have added it to my study routine.
When I began my healing journey we did not have YouTube, so I didn't have the benefit of all the Qi Gong videos that are available for free today. There is absolutely no reason anyone cannot become a Qi Gong master today.
Recently I have been working diligently with some of Dr. Jahnke's videos on YouTube, and they are really powerful. Here are a few where he teaches and demonstrates many of the techniques in THE HEALER WITHIN.
In the 20 years since I began to study and practice Qi Gong, much scientific study has been done on the efficacy of this ancient practice.
Consider these things from Dr. Jahnke:
** Qi Gong allows us to heal ourselves.
** The most profound medicine is produced by the breath, and it is free.
** Our breath is the bridge to our spirit.
Dr. Jahnke teaches this very simple healing breath technique.
Place one hand on your belly and the other on your chest. Now breathe into the belly (like you are inflating a balloon in the abdomen), then a brief pause, then fill the upper part of your lungs. Hold for a slow count of five, then slowly exhale through your nose.
Dr. Jahnke says you are massaging your lymphatic system with the belly breath, while the upper lung breath relaxes your entire body as well as your nervous system. He says this breath pattern is one of the most important healing tools Qi Gong gives us. He suggests we do several of these breaths once each hour.

The last one is an excellent example of a daily Qi Gong practice. However, this one is a full hour long, and based on my own experience I recommend a 30 minute daily practice. I suggest separating Jessica's routine into two days, or morning and evening. Do remember, however, to always begin with a relaxing breath.

This under five-minute exercise is a great calming routine that anyone can do sitting down.
One thing to remember is that historically there are 125-150 different Qi Gong movements, and each master teacher takes usually about 15-20 of these movements and builds the routine they like and prefer to teach. However, there are some aspects of each practice that are consistent with all practitioners. Some of these are breath work, the energy ball, the flowing arm movements, and self-massage. I have DVDs from five or six different masters, and all incorporate these features.
The one challenge that every Qi Gong student tends to have is making their movements too rapid. We tend to think of Qi Gong as exercise (like we associate with so-called aerobics). Just remember to slow down. I still have a tendency to want to speed through my routine, and must keep reminding myself that it is not supposed to be a speed competition. Qi Gong is really a moving meditation.
Tell yourself it's easy. Tell yourself often. Make it an affirmation. Eat, sleep, breathe it, and your life will be transformed.
Here's a relevant quote from Abraham:
"There is nothing about your physical awareness that connects you more to the Non-Physical aspect of your Being than that of your breathing.
Many assume that the process of breathing is only about your physical nature, but that is not the case. The process of breathing is much more than an essential function of your physical body. Indeed, it is the flowing of Spirit to you, and through you. That is the reason that when the focusing of Spirit through your physical body ceases, your breathing ceases, also.
[A] meditation experience will induce a convergence of beneficial aspects for you, for as you relax into the natural rhythm of perfect breathing . . . your physical being will gently surrender to the vibrational frequency of your Source, and you will become one with your Source.
This will not be an exercise of effort or trying, but instead an exercise of releasing and allowing . . . gently allowing yourself to be who you really are.
In the first chapter of The Healer Within Dr. Jahnke tells the story of a lady named Patricia who made a miraculous recovery from a life-threatening injury using the Qi Gong breath techniques. He then goes on to say:
"Patricia's story is a celebration of two dramatic ideas: First, there is a profound medicine, a powerful healing resource, produced naturally within us‒this is the healer within. Second, through purposeful relaxation and regulation of our breath (and other simple self-healing methods including self-massage and gentle movement of the body), we can turn this medicine on."

It is hard to believe it is about 20 years since we first made contact on the Internet about a year after my PPMS diagnosis. Today I am 80 years old, in excellent health. It has been about 10 years or so since I have had any signs of neurological damage, and many people all over the world whom I have counseled have duplicated my experience.
I still maintain my Betty’s House . . . Life After MS website and Journey to Wellness newsletter. I am also very active on Facebook. Over the years I have come to believe that self-healing is everyone’s birthright, and most so-called disease processes can be reversed with lifestyle changes.

Wonderful to hear from you!! I am most pleased to hear that you are in great health which is not surprising. Over the years I have recommended your website to many people and I have no doubt they were greatly helped by your information and support. My son is now 40 and he remains in excellent health. For many years he did not publicly talk about MS but over the last 2 years he has become very active. His website is www.mshope.com He is working on a documentary about MS and hopefully it will be available later this year. You will love it.
My wife and I retired almost 3 years ago and this has allowed a lot more freedom and time with the grandkids (8,7,6,5). It has been gratifying to see that the value of nutritional strategies for MS is becoming more widely known, although the neurologists and MS societies still pay only lip-service and keep pushing worthless drugs.

If you are newly diagnosed, when it is so important to get started on a good program before you sustain significant neurological damage, this is an option I strongly urge you to consider. Or perhaps you feel "stuck," and have become discouraged. Usually when that happens our belief level has slipped, and a private consultation can really kick start your program. I often hear from a reader who wonders whatever happened to the CCSVI research project we were promised. Actually it was Karen's search for information about CCSVI that brought us together. She has been extremely valuable to me.

(1) DESIGNED TO FAIL

Given what we now know about the UBC CCSVI trial, it would seem it was designed to fail. This assessment is based on the following aggregate of information.
It is established beyond doubt that the study leader, Anthony Traboulsee, is an agent of MS pharmaceutical companies (i.e. he receives money from them). Thus, he has a strong financial incentive to have the trial fail. Traboulsee’s pharmaceutical connections and motivations were revealed in spades by his recent comment “We hope these findings, .. will persuade people with MS not to pursue liberation therapy. Fortunately, there are a range of drug treatments for MS that have been proven through rigorous studies to be safe and effective at slowing disease progression.” In fact, no valid study has shown the MS drugs slow progression in the long run, and that is why the drug companies and their agents such as Traboulsee are paranoid about CCSVI treatment which has slowed or stopped progression for many. You have to admire Traboulsee’s chutzpah with his claim the MS drugs are safe, given the knowledge that some of them are occasionally lethal.
Another key fact strongly suggests the trial was designed to fail by way of ineffective vein treatment. It seems the researchers did not measure blood flow before and during the trial to determine if the angioplasty substantially improved blood flow, and that the veins remained open during the trial period. The requirement for such information cannot be over-emphasized. If they have a valid reason for why they neglected to gather such essential measurements, let’s hear it .
Right now, given the drug company connections, we have to assume such data were not collected because they would readily reveal ineffective vein opening and the bogus nature of the trial. Finally, their motivations are also revealed by statements such as:
“The conclusions about the so-called “liberation therapy .. represent the most definitive debunking” of CCSVI treatment. Objective, professional scientists do not use such pejorative terms as “so-called” and “debunking”. Honest researchers with no hidden agenda would simply say our research does not support claims that CCSVI treatment is of value for MS.
In conclusion, diverse information suggests the main goal of the trial was to debunk the value of CCSVI treatment so as to discourage CCSVI treatments, which represent a potential loss of drug sales. Thus it was designed to fail. This was all very predictable as discussed by our president (Dr. Embry) 8 years ago (http://www.direct-ms.org/…/d…/files/Hope%20and%20Elation.pdf).
(2) New MS Drug OCREVUS Wins FDA Approval - Here we go again!
More and more frequently we read an item such as this. Those of us who have been in the MS trenches as it were for years and years, can hardly believe the craziness that exists at the FDA which leads to approval of these dangerous drugs.
With the FDA approval in hand, the drug houses rush to send their minions to neurologists offices to persuade doctors to prescribe them - even for newly diagnosed patients. THEY ARE DANGEROUS!
There is another side to this story. The public is so gullible they eat up the news that there is another new miracle drug and they rush to purchase stock in the drug company who developed this new form of poison. Then my phone starts to ring with people who have been diagnosed with MS wanting to tell me the "wonderful news." Over my 20+ years with MS I can hardly count the times this has happened. Please, don't believe everything you read! And always follow the money trail and consider the source.
(3) Monsanto Is Scrambling To Bury This Breaking Story – Don’t Let This Go Unshared!
A FDA-registered food safety laboratory tested iconic American food for residues of the weed killer glyphosate (aka Monsanto’s Roundup) and found ALARMING amounts.
We have previously shared reports of Monsanto's highly toxic glyphosphate in the baked goods we purchase every day, like cereals and crackers. Here's a quote from this frankly alarming report:
"Just to give you an idea of how outrageous these amounts are, independent research shows that probable harm to human health begins at really low levels of exposure – at only 0.1 ppb of glyphosate. Many foods were found to have over 1,000 times this amount! Well above what regulators throughout the world consider “safe”. "
